Book Description

Book Description
Attracting Equity Investors is designed to help entrepreneurs successfully obtain equity capital. This book discusses how to evaluate a business concept from an investor's perspective and then moves to practical issues such as how to strategically position, prepare, and present the business plan. It recognizes that there is very real competition for the funds that are available. To obtain funding, the entrepreneur must stand out among the competitors. He or she must tell a compelling story in a very convincing manner and be able to answer confidently all questions posed by the potential investor. But more than simply obtaining the funding, the entrepreneur's objective should be to obtain the funding on the best terms possible. Therefore, this book is about organizing your business, writing and presenting a winning business plan, and showing that the management team is the right group of people to be taking that business opportunity forward toward fruition. Attracting Equity Investors is the definitive "getting equity capital" book. Attracting Equity Investors is appropriate for college-level courses in entrepreneurship, business plan writing, new venture funding, strategic management, organizational studies, marketing, economics, and technology management. It will also serve as an excellent resource for entrepreneurs who are actively seeking funding and need to know how to go about it, effectively and economically.

Book Description
The bursting of the dot-com bubble in 2001 coincided with an abrupt and lasting change in the development of entrepreneurial venture-backed firms in the United States. Previously, entrepreneurs and investors commonly took viable young firms public through initial public offerings. Since 2001, however, venture investors have more frequently exited by selling their companies to established corporations, usually for lower returns. There are concerns among some entrepreneurs, investors, and academics that this change has reduced the potential of young, entrepreneurial firms to contribute to innovation, job creation, international competitiveness, and economic growth. There are also claims that public policies, including securities regulation, have contributed to this result and should be modified or compensated for. In 2007 investors, entrepreneurs, and academic experts in economics, corporate finance, and law came together to consider the merits and feasibility of additional research addressing the change in investor exit strategies, its causes and consequences. During the 2007 workshop, summarized in this volume, participants identified several factors complicating systematic inquiry and suggested a number of research avenues that could be productive.

Strategic Entrepreneurial Finance

Strategic Entrepreneurial Finance PDF Author: Darek Klonowski

Book Description
Entrepreneurial finance is a discipline that studies financial resource mobilization, resource allocation, risk moderation, optimization in financial contracting, value creation, and value monetization within the context of entrepreneurship. However, without proper strategic consideration the discipline is incomplete. This book examines how the activity of entrepreneurial finance can be enhanced via a concentration on value creation and through improved strategic decision-making. The most unique feature of the book is its focus on value creation. For entrepreneurs, value creation is not a one-off activity, but rather a continuous cycle of incremental improvements across a wide range of business activities. Entrepreneurial value creation is described in four comprehensive stages: value creation, value measurement, value enhancement, and value realization, referred to as the C-MER model. This book focuses on what creates value rather than merely presenting value creation in a straight accounting framework. At the same time, deliberate and tactical planning and implementation ensure that the firm does not ignore the components necessary for it to survive and flourish.Vigorous strategic deliberations maximize the entrepreneurial firm’s chances of making the right business decisions for the future, enable the firm to manage its available financial and non-financial resources in the most optimal manner, ensure that the necessary capital is secured to progress the development of the firm to its desired development level, and build value. While financial considerations are important, the field of strategic entrepreneurial finance represents a fusion of three disciplines: strategic management, financial management, and entrepreneurship. This orientation represents a natural evolution of scholarship to combine specific domains and paradigms of naturally connected business disciplines and reflects the need to simultaneously examine business topics from different perspectives which may better encapsulate actual entrepreneurial practices.

Book Description
The purpose of this book is to describe how an established technology company or an entrepreneur can use crowdfunding to raise capital from accredited investors. The book is targeted to small private technology companies, usually with less than 10 employees, and with more than 3 years of operational experience. Within the category of equity crowdfunding, there is a sub-category called "accredited investor" crowdfunding, characterized by investments made by investors who expect a profit, and generally will continue to support the enterprise over a longer period of time than the venture capitalist. Generally, the goal for the amount raised would be around $1 million. As is the case for most of the Reg D capital raised in 2012, the use of the capital is for business growth and expansion, in such items as new staff, sales and marketing, and new capital equipment. From a technological point of view, the capital would generally be used to improve an existing product or service, called a sustaining innovation. The book covers the steps and executive or entrepreneur follows to prepare and execute a crowdfunding project. It provides a detailed analysis of the 10 accredited investor crowdfunding websites currently in operation. This book is not about donor-based crowdfunding, or its near cousin, non-accredited investor crowdfunding. This book is intended for CEOs of technology companies and technology entrepreneurs who would like to learn more about this new technique of raising capital.

Book Description
A comprehensive book on business plans, operating plans, and investor presentations; including sample business plans, proposals, investor presentations, letters of intent, resources, and much more.Every business can benefit from the preparation of a carefully written business plan. The purpose of the business plan is to help the entrepreneur think through the venture and ensure he or she has considered all their options and anticipated any potential difficulties. In addition, a business plan - along with an investor presentation - can be used to convince lenders and investors that the entrepreneur is in control of the project and their money will be safe with the entrepreneur. It also serves as an operating guide as the entrepreneur turns his or her idea into a viable business. More importantly, it furnishes a standard against which to judge future business decisions and results.Traditionally, venture capital investors invest in early stage companies. They make early stage investments in promising start-ups and in addition to venture capital, they seek to provide expertise and assistance to their portfolio companies. Their experience spans all aspects of growing successful companies - from formative stage through management of multi-billion dollar enterprises. Their operating model is to work openly and collaboratively with venture capital funds, angel organizations, and other ecosystems that foster the growth of startups. Inasmuch, business plan fundamentals serve as important criteria for the decision on what they choose to consider for investment.
