Book Description
An absorbing memoir of one man’s path to understanding how we can learn to lead lives of greater blessing and to be sources of blessing and service for the world as a whole. For as long as he can remember, David Spangler has been physically aware of a spiritual world existing alongside this one. In 1965, David Spangler left college to follow an inner spiritual calling and encountered an extraordinary presence, which he named “John.” Over the next quarter-century John would assist David in exploring the “inner worlds” of the spirit, and would tutor him in some of the most basic mysteries of life and the nature of the human spirit. In Apprenticed to Spirit, Spangler recounts how John showed him the way to develop a spiritual intelligence—what Spangler calls “a mind of the soul”—and how to integrate it into everyday life. Spangler learned to think with his soul and embarked on the apprenticeship to understanding the sacredness of our world and of the realms beyond ours—a journey that continues to this day.

Book Description
Since The Grass is Singing was published in 1950, Doris Lessing has commanded a widespread and heterogeneous readership. Written from a feminist political perspective, and employing diverse modes of critical analysis, the present volume, originally published in 1982, aims to combine detailed technical exploration of Lessing’s work with a sense of this extraordinary writer’s historical, political and personal development. The essays, placed in political and biographical context by the editor’s introduction, span the entire length of Lessing’s career, up to Canopus in Argos, and includes studies of A Man and Two Women, The Golden Notebook and The Children of Violence as well as an interview with David Gladwell, director of Memoirs of a Survivor.

Book Description
The derogatory term trailer trash didn't exist fifty years ago. Mobile homes were accepted by the public as respectable residences for middle-income people. After the 1980s, things suddenly changed. Living in a trailer was looked upon as a demeaning lifestyle by some members of society. I have friends that lived in house trailers while growing up. Some of them will no longer admit to such. Everyone has a story to tell. Unfortunately, some book publishers over the years have made it so only elitist celebrities get to share theirs. Their flamboyant pictures are splashed on the front of countless book and magazine covers as if these lives are the only ones that matter. I believe every person on this planet has something interesting to say, even trailer park refugees.

Phenomenology and Mysticism

Phenomenology and Mysticism PDF Author: Anthony J. Steinbock

Book Description
Exploring the first-person narratives of three figures from the Christian, Jewish, and Islamic mystical traditions—St. Teresa of Avila, Rabbi Dov Baer, and RÅ«zbihÄn BaqlÄ«—Anthony J. Steinbock provides a complete phenomenology of mysticism based in the Abrahamic religious traditions. He relates a broad range of religious experiences, or verticality, to philosophical problems of evidence, selfhood, and otherness. From this philosophical description of vertical experience, Steinbock develops a social and cultural critique in terms of idolatry—as pride, secularism, and fundamentalism—and suggests that contemporary understandings of human experience must come from a fuller, more open view of religious experience.
